this little person woke me up this morning.
hoooray!!!!! someday i may rue the day little voices wake me before 8 on a saturday. not so today :)
then todd, shelly, rachel and me & brad headed up to the Getty museum. it was a BEAUTIFUL day! Lots of good stuff to see and plenty of illegal pictures to take. (none shall be posted.)
Picnic on the grounds overlooking the gardens.
Oh btw, i posted this picture bc i have been a little lazy in the hair dept lately- take note the cute curly mass of hair on my head. a little effort never killed anyone sometimes...i really just wanted some family to hang out with all this weekend AND since todd didn't have to work on friday, they came to visit! hooray for family! i really was just so excited and just so glad they came! AND aunt lindsey gets to babysit tonight so they can go out. i volunteered. i miss babysitting my fav lil people in LV. :)
lovely day....

i donated blood for the first time EVER tonight.
it was rad. besides the fact my left arm is KILLING now 3 hours later more than when it was being vampire-d it feels pretty good.

it's 40 days before Easter!! and you know what that means!!?
ASH WEDNESDAY AND LENT ARE UPON US! woot woot!
i'm giving up chocolate (i didn't have any in january, but cheated in february, so i'm back on the band wagon) and fasting my time everyday so i WILL EXERCISE everyday for lent. even if it's riding my bike to someone's house instead of driving or 50 crunches, i'm going to do something everyday.

i love being a mormon who celebrates catholic holidays. my mother raised me right ;)

i've never watched the oscar's before. but i kinda liked it. i confess. besides the politcal mumbo jumbo, i was thrilled to watch kate winslet win best actress- i love her, and i liked that benjamin button won a bunch of things bc i liked that movie, and i was excited to watch wall-e win bc i just really laughed myself silly watching that flick.
cool people. fabulous food- can you say bacon-wrapped waterchestnuts??
(mosey what are those called mary montez style?)
great experience.

(yes i KNOW i am SO FUNNY right now)

i used to be a very avid concert goer. all the time. anyone i could see. but then somewhere along the lines i decided music was becoming an obsession and i should put a lil moderation on that. so with the slowing of all my downloading & buying & sharing music, naturally the concert going slowed down, too.

BUT...last night we went to see Joshua Radin.
i love him. he's very chill and relaxing. and happy. and i basically think it was one of my favorite concerts ever. he's just SO great live!! it helps he is muy attractivo & looks like this:THEN... just little someone named INGRID MICHAELSON (woot woot) came out to sing with him on a song & it was SO cool to see her live, too!!
THEN as if I couldn't be happier... THIS lady came out to sing a song with him:
and since i was the only person amongst the 20 people in our group who knew her, i had to have a moment to myself!! i was flippin out. oh maria taylor. i LOVE HER.
(thanks anne for introducing me.)
i walked out the venue PAST her bc she was just chillen at the door talking to people & i was TOO CHICKEN to say hi bc she's way pretty in real life & super talented and i knew it would end up being something awkward and stupid on my part. like napoleon dynamite.
"heeey maria.. i love you. like not in a weird way, i just like your music. and i want to be you. k i gotta go now. i love you."

sufficeth to say, i had a fabulous night. thanks for driving all the way to hollywood, shauna, i didn't really want to.

OH and as a sidenote: as we were leaving the concert at 12AM, there were seriously like a million indians (who looked like they were all 16) lined up outside bc apparently the Music Box becomes an indian club after concerts on a satuday night?? weird.

i saw this in a martha stewart magazine a long time ago and fell in love.
i have this fantasy that my husband someday will buy me one piece each year for christmas/birthday/anniversary of our marraige and someday i'll have enough to make a 2-4 person set and only eat off it at special occasions.
like that talk about the spoons.
(wendy- whats the talk about that apostles wife & the silverware?)did i mention its like $110 a plate bc its royal copenhagen china...?

i dyed my hair AGAIN. i should've been born with brownish red hair. i LOVE it. in fact, a week later, i STILL get excited about it. except this is not a good picture. oh well!
and my roommate is the best. there are no words.

let's put this in perspective- last year i got dumped on the 13th of Feb.
this year i got an AWESOME frilly printed apron and we made a big breafast and toast shaped like hearts.
conclusion: buy her a potted plant of her favorite flowers bc she'll like it more.

two dogs. each wearing little teeny helmets. picture worthy.
i wanted to steal my nephews christmas present bc i loved it so much.
my 21st birthday spent at the white owl (the only hard liquor bar in logan ut).
no i didn't drink this.
i seem to remember sending my father this picture & getting some kinda of response like
"hardy har har."
my mother's "linda bartley" moment. kayleigh didn't like the lips so much...

the cover around this license plate says

"just point me in the direction of nordstrom's"

i laugh and laugh and laugh....

warning: angry rant about pants ahead
if you know me well. you know how much i hate shopping deep down inside my heart. for anything besides socks & sweaters, really. this is just another log to add to the fire....
let me make this perfectly clear: i HATE norstroms. HATE it.
i don't care what you say, it is NOT the best store, and although they have *supposedly* great customer service i have never found their products nor service to be of any acclaim.
let me illustrate:
behold: the curse of the nordstrom's pant suit!!

let me break this down for you:
Last weekend November 08: go to the-store-who-shall-not-be-named in LV and purchase pants & a coordinating suit jacket for OUTRAGEOUS price. receive help from a kind but middle-aged, fashion-clueless, and only somewhat-helpful woman named something like "bonita" or "betty."

December 08: 2.5 WEEKS later i receive pants after tailoring; after they assured me they would arrive in ONE week. only to discover they are tailored about an INCH too short and BONUS you can actually SEE the stiching on the front of the pants where i had them pin & remove the space left for some kind of child-bearing pouch & poochiness.
i wear them anyway for a week bc i have client's coming in the office.

Jan 09: Bring back to TSWSNBN in CA. HIDEOUS, RUDE, middle-younger-middle-aged woman "helps" me when i bring them back to redo the tailoring i paid for. leave store very angry.

2 days later go back to pick them up & i tell the nice looking young saleswoman i am there to pick up pants i just had tailored. (with a nice attitude & smile bc its not THIS girl's fault...)LITERALLY she picks them up & hands them to me without a word but sorta smiles. NOT ONE word. (i think to "myself... okay.. weird. whatever. at least she smiled.")

Today February 09: about to burn TSWSNBN. stupid stupid pants. the ENTIRE left leg hem has just come undone while i'm a work. my pants are now being secured at their desired length by PACKING TAPE. and... BONUS! the lining on the RIGHT leg has come unsecured and is now causing a weird pull on the one side which makes me pant leg not hang straight.

i have a 2.6 million dollar client i talk to about everyday, coming in TODAY after lunch.
.
DILEMMA:
do i DARE go back into TSWSNBN and have them redo all the problems?
do i demand an entire NEW pair of pants, only to wait for 2 weeks for them to be hemmed AGAIN?
or do i hem them myself at home bc i'm so en-angered?
stupid pants from TSWSNBN. curses.
ok. i'm done now.

Keith? Wendy? Anyone??

Saint Francis de Sales - "Be who you are and be that well."
This quote came up on my Google Quotes today, and it made me think....

What if you aren't really that great of a person? Do you want to be the WORST aka the Best at being Not Great?
  • So what if I'm grouchy when I'm tired & hungry: Should I strive the be the Grouchiest?
  • If I don't dress so great all the time: Should I strive to dress badly More Often?
  • What if I don't like my bf, friends, family, car, job, roommates or traffic All the time: Will I pursue that Hatred to its Fullest?
  • Are you bad at Spending Money: Get in debt the Most?
OR does this quote mean I should fine tune my secret daily alone dance party skills and put some elbow grease on my sparkling personality??? :)

I have been wanting and looking, wishin' and hopin', for a new bedspread to make my room a little more complete and retire the FABULOUS spread my mom made for me when I was a senior in high school. That spread was the best thing ever and made college and thereafter a bit more exciting and vibrant. However, I wanted somethin' a lil' different, and my budget and pickiness (me? Picky?? NEVER.) made it a little bit harder to pick. And with BROWN and green being so popular and all my stuff being BLACK and green, it made it a little frustrating.
HOWEVER, VOILA!!!!
Thanks to HomeGoods and little bit of creativity on my part (*bows* thank you, thank you) we have... THE NEW BEDSPREAD!!!! Woot woot!!
I need to find one or two more throw pillows- maybe I'll make them... but then it'll be a lil' more complete!! HOORAY!!

Your New Twin Sized Bed- Death Cab for Cutie

You look so defeated lying there in your new twin size bed.
With a single pillow underneath your single head.
I guess you decided that that old queen holds more space than you would need.
Now it's in the alley behind your apartment with a sign that says it's free.
And "I hope you have more luck with this than me."
You used to think that someone would come along.
And lay beside you in a space that they belong.
But the other side of the mattress and box springs stayed like new.
What's the point of holding onto what never gets used?
Other than a sick desire for self-abuse.
